Which one is right for you

Standard soft gel is a colour coat. It looks good and lasts around two weeks, but it adds almost no strength — if your nails split at the free edge, gel alone will not stop it.

Builder gel is thicker and slightly flexible. Applied as an overlay on your own nail, it absorbs the impact of daily use, which is what actually lets a weak nail grow past the fingertip.

Extensions and soft gel tips are a different job — they add length you do not have. Plenty of clients start on BIAB to get their own nails healthy, then move to tips once there is something to work with. We will tell you which one your nails actually need.

What is BIAB and how is it different from normal gel?
BIAB stands for Builder In A Bottle — a thicker builder gel applied over your own nail as a flexible protective layer. Normal soft gel is colour only; BIAB adds strength, so weak or peeling nails can grow out underneath instead of breaking.
How much does builder gel / BIAB cost in Bali?
Builder gel (BIAB) at Top Nail Studio is IDR 200–300K depending on length, shape and whether you add art. That is our most durable nail service and the one we recommend for anyone growing their natural nails out.
How long does BIAB last?
Three to four weeks for most clients, which is longer than standard gel. Rather than removing it each time, BIAB can be infilled — the grown-out area is filled and the overlay is kept, so your natural nail is disturbed less.
Is BIAB better than acrylic or extensions?
For natural nail health, generally yes. BIAB sits on your own nail as an overlay rather than building a long artificial extension, so there is far less filing of the natural nail surface. If you want dramatic length, tips or soft gel extensions are the better choice.
Does BIAB damage your nails?
Not when it is applied and removed correctly. The damage people describe usually comes from picking product off or from over-filing during removal. We soak off and file down carefully, and we will tell you honestly if your nails need a break.
Can I have nail art on top of BIAB?
Yes. BIAB is the base layer, so chrome, cat eye, French tips and hand painted art all go on top of it. Art is priced on top of the builder gel.
